The "Vital Middle" drives success

The key to the success of any but the smallest business is not exclusively in the hands of the C-Suite and senior leadership. It's determined by the vital middle—the newly promoted and mid-tenure managers in the early stages of their journey as people leaders.  


This—the vital middle—is where your organization's strategy and culture is turned into reality. For this reason the quality of leadership and teamwork at these levels is mission critical. As it improves, your organization will see measurable improvements in engagement, retention and productivity.

Rising Managers

Who? Rising managers are preparing for, or newly promoted into, their first people manager role.

When? Programs are best delivered in a two-year window—from six months before promotion to a eighteen months following promotion.


Why? This is a fertile moment for development: individuals are very open to guidance and support; each individual's contribution can be accelerated.

The challenge: With this population the primary challenge is scale. There are a large number of individuals who need development!

Emerging Leaders

Who? Individuals who are transitioning from management to taking on a business leadership role; typically from Senior Manager to Director level.

When? Programs are best delivered in a two-year window—from six months before promotion to a eighteen months following promotion.


Why? Two key skills that need to be developed at this level  are delegation and performance feedback; quality of leadership at this level is closely tied to successful execution of enterprise strategy.

The challenge: It is vitally important for this population to create and extend peer-to-peer partnerships inside and outside the organization.

Program content is powered by context

Our core curriculum covers all aspects of human-to-human interactions in the workplace. Our Management Essentials program is based on the work of our strategic partners Leader Success whose state-of-the-art offering is used by Google, Apple and many other leading US and international organizations.

Our foundational Management Essentials programs is delivered through a combination of synchronous online delivery (using Adobe Connect or equivalent virtual classroom) and asynchronous on-demand media ("microlearning").


But we take this much, much further: our unique "newsdesk" production rapidly generates custom video and other media assets to show how these principles apply in to the challenges that your people are facing in their day-to-day work.


In this way the content is always personalized, fresh and highly relevant. We can address specific concerns raised by break-out groups and even individuals.
